How Atomex supports the industry

Atomex supplies these core additives, including our own ATOCEL, ATOPAS and ATOHPS lines, and pairs them with formulation and application support. Our team helps select the right grade for each system, balance cost against performance, troubleshoot production issues, and evaluate alternative raw materials, from a single substitution to optimising a complete dry-mix or coating recipe.

Product portfolio & function

  • Cellulose ethers - ATOCEL (HEMC, HPMC, HEC):
  • Water retention, workability, open-time and rheology control. HEMC and HPMC lead in cement- and gypsum-based dry-mix systems; HEC is widely used as a thickener and water-retention agent in water-based paints and coatings. Available across a range of viscosity grades.

  • RDP - ATOPAS:
  • Redispersible polymer powders that build adhesion, flexibility, cohesion and water resistance through polymer film formation - essential in flexible adhesives, EIFS and exterior systems.

  • Starch ether - ATOHPS:
  • Hydroxypropyl starch ethers that improve anti-sag behavior, consistency and workability, often used synergistically with cellulose ethers to fine-tune rheology.

  • Construction & coating additives:
  • Functional additives: defoamers, dispersants, rheology modifiers, hydrophobing agents, air entrainers and more, to optimize handling, appearance and durability.

Applications

Tile adhesives including high-performance flexible (C2) systems, EIFS/ETICS, self-levelling underlayments, renders and plasters, skim coats, putties, grouts, repair mortars, and water-based decorative and protective coatings.
